Collection: Where it Started Collection | Abstract Art Prints by Sarah Mainprize

Where It Started traces the beginning of something—moments sparked by instinct, reaction, and feeling before they had shape or meaning.

This collection is rooted in immediacy. Each piece emerged from a moment rather than a plan: a conversation, a memory, a fleeting emotional shift. What followed wasn't about capturing a subject, but about responding to the energy it created—layering colour, texture, and gesture in real time.

There's a looseness here. Marks are more direct, compositions more open, and the work holds a kind of honesty that comes from not yet knowing where it's going. Fragments appear—symbols, forms, traces of thought—offering glimpses of something personal without ever fully resolving.

At its core, Where It Started is about expression before refinement. It captures the early stages of becoming, where intuition leads and meaning follows later.

Printed as museum-quality giclée fine art prints on archival paper, each piece preserves the raw texture and movement of the original work.

These pieces begin as original paintings—layered, intuitive, and shaped by moments that don't fully resolve.

Now available as museum-quality prints, each one carries forward the depth and movement of the original.
